"Yeah, that's because the two of me are now actually two different people.." Paul said.

JD murmured something to himself, a faroff look on his face.
"Not just that..." he murmured. He looked up suddenly. "Again, it would appear that you are in a situation where your life could be threatened greatly. Would you care for me to elaborate?"

Bell sighed softly as she watched them,with a small smile she played with her orb of light.

"Not in front of...certain people."
He looked at Bell, then Rockslide.
"Bell, come on, I'll get you home." Rockslide said.

Bell glanced up "Uh sure?" She stood up and smiled

Mark picked her up gently.
"Pregnant girls shouldn't walk." He said, laughing.
He carried her down the stairs, since his weight was too much for the elevator.
But when you were literally made of stone, what could you do?

Bell rolled her eyes, knowing she was perfectly able to walk. "Fine what ever you say,"

He stopped.
"You hungry?" He said, pointing his thumb towards a diner.

Dina sighed. "Alright... I guess..." She looked at JD. "I'll be in the lobby." She waved to Paul then left.

Bell shrugged "Sure,"

JD watched as the others left, then looked back to Paul with a scrutinizing look.
"Well..." he murmured.

"Don't sugarcoat it, JD. I need to know." Paul looked at JD, not scared for himself if he was to die, that was his life's plan, but he was scared for Bell.
And the baby.

JD flashed him a wry smile then nodded. "Yeah..." JD shook his head.
"Simply set, I'd call you a Half. Half, a word here meaning, "half-life, soulless... I'd give you about a week." JD looked at what looked like a small bit of paper, then held it up to Paul.
(FLASH). "Bio-camera," he explained.

"That's my SOUL?" Paul said.
Oh God, that was stupid. He thought.
"How.." Paul thought about his words, so he wouldn't sound stupid.
"How can I get back together with...him..." He said, pointing at the Phantom.
"And if you have time, how did it happen, anyways?"

JD opened his mouth then closed it, a frustrated look on his face.
"Ohh... It's tough to explain it to a person who doesn't already know..." JD took a breath.
"Science is my thing...soul-stuff too...ANYWAYS: that," JD pointed to Phantom, "is a simple fraction of your soul. I'd say about 1/1,000,000,000 of it..." JD shook his head.
"No, that's just major downsizing..."

"I'll do anything to be able to stay alive. Just do what you have to do."

JD looked at him, a half mocking half amused smile on his face.
"Yeah... That's just the thing..." JD looked at Phantom again.
"Hi," he said to it. "How're you feeling?"

"I do not feel, halfling. I am a sentient being. Do not condescend to me, I will not take it like that weakling there."
"And you thought I was the asshole.." Paul muttered.

JD rolled his eyes. "Who YOU calling 'halfling', half-being? At least I got a soul! You're just a fragment!"

"You may THINK you have a soul. But I see things that are nightmarish inside of it. Who determines whether or not you have a soul?"
"Enough of this. How do we re-merge?"

JD glared at Phantom. "Bite me." He looked back at Paul.
"That's just it, like I said, Phantom is only PART of your soul... The rest, well uh... Kind.." JD pulled on a sheepish look.
"Missing?"

Paul's mind literally almost broke apart.
"Well then...how do I...find it?" Paul said, clearly shaken.

JD shrugged. "Soul search?" JD choked back a laugh, then went stoic, "Sorry, bad joke. I'm not sure... I'd probably need to run some tests.."

"Do it then." Paul said, his eyes scared.
"But I have a really bad feeling about who has a portion of it."

JD nodded, remembering some run-ins with some enemies in the past.
"By the way, what did 'ole Queerboy want?"

"I don't know, to be queerish and creepy, the usual."

"Hmm... He seems to like you enough." JD flashed Paul a slightly amused look then it was replaced with his normal serious look.
"Maybe... nah."

Paul looked naseous.
"Dude, seriously, at least we know I'm not...you know."
"But if I was I'd have the biggest crush on a half-demon guy."
Paul said, not able to keep a straight face.

JD's suddenly whirled around to look at at Paul with an incredulous look on his face.
"Don't you EVER say that again. EVER."
JD shook his head.
"God, I meant that maybe he had a part of your soul. LITERALLY."

Paul looked serious.
"I sure hope not. It'll come back in rainbow."
