Mutation-2x01

Conrad Garza was in bad shape. Really. He was. He was 150% freaked out after his older brother, Mark, was kicked out of his house. And now he knew that he had the potential to be too. At least, he thought he was. He looked down at his hand.
Oh God.
Yeah, this confirmed it. His hand, which was now clouded up, now normal, now clouded up, now normal again, was proving it. This wasn't a dream. No. It was a nightmare, but he couldn't wake up. Because he wasn't asleep. He needed to get to class. The late bell rang. "Damn it.." He said, angrily. He hadn't noticed that the ground below was empty. Not many people came up to the roof, but that didn't explain anything. He began to just jump off the roof, but then he saw the cameras. Cameras were a no-no. That was how Mark got caught. He couldn't let the cameras see him. So he went the normal way.
Off to math class, a billion things on his mind.

Conrad sat in math class, giving the teacher, Mrs. Gruner, a tardy pass. He sat down in the back, next to an empty desk. He put his head down, and ignored her, pulling his blue hoodie over his head, and he sat, awaiting the end of the day.

Ruby waved at Erika, sending her off to class. Erika waved back, smiling fakely and walking off to math class, late and without a pass. Typical Erika.

Conrad didn't move whenever he heard the door open. Mrs. Gruner spoke to someone, and then he heard a bag fall to the floor. Someone had sat next to him. Great.

Erika sat down next to some guy, sighing. This guy had also been late apparently. Looking around, she answered when the teacher asked who she was and looked at her oddly. "You haven't been here for three months..."

Conrad looked up. It was a girl. A pretty girl. She looked pretty familiar. Someone his friend...well, not really friend after his parents had found out he was a mutant...Noah was with a lot. He wasn't sure..but she sure seemed familiar. He was glad his hood hid which direction he looked in.

Erika looked over at the boy next to her, recognizing him as one of Noah's old friends. Just the thought of Noah made her heart hurt. Pushing the thoughts away, she attempted to focus on the teacher. But depressing thoughts crept in, but also the curiosity she had about the boy besid her.

Conrad noticed the girl looking at him. She couldn't know him, could she? I mean, it wasn't like he could be connected to her in any way. His sister was young, and Mark...well, he didn't know about Mark.

Erika was rather bored in math, drawing many doodles and pictures on her notes. The teacher never really called on her, knowing how behind she was. When the lesson was finally over, she turned to the boy. "You new?"

"I guess you could say that. I did miss three months of school. But I had good reason." She defended with a shrug, acting as though it didnt matter even though it was such a big thing. "Noah..." She whispered to herself, hoping the boy wouldn't hear her

"Okay.." Conrad said, hearing the girl say something, but he couldn't tell what the word was. He looked down, and then back at the girl.
"You look really familiar. Do I know you from somewhere?" He asked. His paper slid off his desk, with the words "Conrad Garza" written in fine print.

Erika's eyes widened, seeing the piece of paper with his name on it. "...You were Noah's friend..?" She asked slowly and softly, her words still barely audible. Erika tried to hold back any tears she had, but they welled up a bit in her eyes and her throat closed. But she wasn't going to cry on the first day of school...

((SO SORRY LAST NIGHT! I fell asleep on my iPod... lame, I know..))

"Oh.." She said, biting her lip a bit. "That's my older sister's boyfriend... they've been together a while now. At least six months." She said, shrugging a little. "You're his younger brother...? Are you...alike?" She asked, figuring he'd know what she meant.

Erika sighed, seeing that he didn't know what she meant. "Ha, that's always nice." She said with a half smile. She would ask the kid later...
"I'm Erika," She introduced herself. "My sister's Ruby."

"Conrad, and my brother's Mark, but you already knew that." The bell rang. Conrad sighed, and looked down at his schedule. English next, with Mrs. Bradley.

Erika nodded, getting up. They had English together and neither knew yet. Erika loaded her things into her arms, walking out. "See you later," she said as she headed off to English with Mrs Bradley

He nodded, and got up. He beat her to that class, because, well, he knew the school 10x better. And his route there already. He sat down in the back.

Erika arrived a bit later than Conrad and was surprised to see him again. She sat kiddy corner from him, since there wasn't really any other place to sit unless she wanted to sit next to the kid who needed to take more showers. He always smelled... and had greasy hair.
Biting her lip, she wondered how many other classes she would have with this kid.

Conrad's head stayed down the next three classes, which the two had together. Finally, it was time for lunch. The bell rang, and Conrad went up to the roof.

Erika went to get her lunch, being pushed around a bit by the big juniors and seniors. She was rather small, her body being slender and her bones not the strongest. Erika just wanted to be invisible... but it would look like a tray of food was floating.
Sighing, Erika went outside, sitting by herself, turning herself invisible and began to eat. Except now it looked like food was just disappearing into thin air after floating for a minute. And she didn't exactly attempt at hiding herself, being visible from the roof and other places around her.

Conrad positioned himself directly over Erika, and luck-or another source would have it-he fell off the 2 story roof. As he fell, his fear overcame him, causing him to slowly levitate to the ground-and then burst into clouds-at Erika's feet.
"Oh crap.." He said, looking at her, half human, half cloud.

Erika quickly became visible, gasping. Her face was beat red, knowing he knew she was a super now and she knew he was. "What was that...?" She asked slowly, unknowing of what he had just done. Gosh... everyone had to find out that she was super by accident and she only found out that people were super by accidents. Couldn't anybody just tell her the truth for once?

"I..I.." He looked up. A camera. He was in view, she wasn't. He formed, and looked up at her, in remorse.
And then he ran.

Erika jumped up, biting her lip. Was this her fault...? Taking a breath and making sure she couldn't be in view of the camera, she turned into a blue jay, fluttering off after Conrad. She didn't want to lose him that fast... she'd have to tell Mark.

Conrad kept running, the speed of a normal human. Tears ran down his face. His mother and father would know soon. They'd try to have him killed if possible. He'd be disowned. He had to get home. To get his box. And he needed to do it fast. So he kept running.

Erika gulped, flying after him. She didn't care about school at this point, she wanted to make sure Conrad was okay. Mark may not be her boyfriend, but he'd probably been the most comforting to her throughout her depression over Noah. She wanted Mark to know that he was okay or whatever... and she wanted to make sure Conrad wasn't going to get hurt.

Conrad finally reached his house. He ran to the back door. Locked. And of course he had forgotten his key. He looked around, but then decided there was no use to looking around, and became a being of cloud again. He floated through his window, and he quickly packed his bags. He didn't get everything, just most things. His xbox, with a few games, some clothes, the Box, and his photo album. That would be enough. And then he heard the sirens. The police yelling. He heard the alarm, the Anti-Mutant one, go off.
His parents were home. And this time, they'd kill the mutant son.
