lounging around

Xavier walked around, quite casual in the cemetery.
"Dead, dead, dead... Think I knew him... Killed her."
He looked happy about it for a moment, then frowned.
"Yeah... Not my best moments..."
He sat on a mound, possibly someone beneath it, and pulled out what looked like a remote control.
"Work, work, work for me PLEASE. Worthless piece of junk. Ridiculous. She says it works, he said it didn't, I said I didn't care, she said I'd regret it, the kids all laughed... And now it doesn't work.
He pulled his arm back to throw the hunk of hardware, but he put his arm back down.
"No... He did that. Regretted it later. Learn from your elder's mistakes."

Alexis needed to see something. She needed to see Midina Hirsch's grave.
She walked up to the man.
"Hey. What're you doing?"

OOC: Somehow, I don't see a reason to color my letters...

IC: Xavier looked up.
"Sitting. You?"

Alexis sighed.
"Just... seeing someone.. A dead person."
The super hero laughed softly, her thoughts drifting back to happier times.

Xavier nodded in understanding.
"I know the feeling, amazingly. I saw a ghost today."
He patted the ground next to him.
"I know you could kick my ass if you had to. Sit with me."

Alexis looked at this man for a while.
She decided to sit.
When she sat, she sat a little away from this silver-haired man.
He was a lot like the Mage, but entirely different.
"... A ghost?"

Xavier nodded, laughing.
"Yeah... Something close to it, anyways."
The pale-haired man looked at Alexis.
"... This person.. Anyone close to you?"

Alexis shook her head.
"No... Someone I knew killed her... God, things used to be SO much easier.."

Xavier looked a little closer.
"... Leadership problems," he guessed.

Alexis looked at the man in surprise.
"..YEAH. How'd you know?"

Xavier nodded.
"Well, the little patch on your jacket shoulder kinda gives away the hero affiliation. And, well, I've seen that look before many times."
He laughed sarcastically, turning his head, saying to himself;
"Listen to me, normal like."

Alexis didn't hear the last part.
"Yeah... I run a super group. Someone else did before me, though. He - maybe she - was great at it."

Xavier nodded.
"I knew someone like that. Level headed all the time, only showed that he cared when he needed too..."
Xavier laughed.
"That was my father..."

Alexis looked at him for a moment, but was also remembering things.
"In the beginning, I was just a wannabe. A little kid who REALLY wanted to play super hero... Look at me now. Trapped on some back-water heroless universe that doesn't have a CLUE."

"You're a drifter?"

"A.. what?"

Xavier shook his head.
"Nothing. Just a technical term."
He looked back at Alexis.
"Tell me about this group of yours."

Alexis decided she would tell this man.
She wasn't from this world in the first place...
"We - well, they - were a bunch of kids when they started. All of them , either 14 to 16. One of them, the smartest, most mysterious, and most powerful of them, the Blur, figured out how to make it look like you had powers when you didn't. Machines that you could put on that made you faster, stronger."
She shifted to a more comfortable position.
"Last I was there, there was a good number. Blur, Christian and Gloria, Beast Boy, Invincible, Rorschach, Human Torch. All names and mostly fake powers from books, movies and songs. That's why they're called the Fiction Group."

Xavier was intrigued.
"Machines that enhanced people?"

"Only for the one who needed it. For instance, Torch, Beast Boy, and myself didn't get to use them. We had actual powers, so it was a definite no.
I don't know whether the Blur used them or not. No one knew what he (or she) looked like, what height, hair color... Just a blur. And he was fast too. He didn't always join in on a fight, but he would give instructions. And he REALLY didn't want me to join for a long time. Too young, he said. Powers were too unpredictable, he said."

"But here you are. Now, you say that Blur was smart. You also implied that you're from an alternate reality. Why send someone like you?, no offense."

"None taken... Yeah. This was supposed to be a learning experience. BUT, my damned timer quit working!"

Xavier sat up at the word.
"I'm good with machines. May I see it?"

Alexis shook her head.
"Not with me..."

Xavier sighed.
"Well, I need to see it to fix it."

Alexis shrugged.
"Yeah... I'll get it, assuming I believe that you can fix it."

Xavier shrugged.
"I know a thing or two about trans-dimensional travel devices."
He thought about their previous conversation.
"You had a Rorschach?"

Alexis nodded.
"Yeah.. He actually turned out to be a 15-year-old blonde boy with something to prove. Ended up insane. But, amazingly, Blur lets him play hero still. I think there's something between them..."

Xavier shrugged.
"You never know."
He looked at the sky, then stood.
"I, uh... I need to be somewhere. But here's my number."
Xavier handed Alexis a slip of paper.
"By the way, I'm Xavier."

Alexis took the slip of paper.
"Alexis. Nice meeting you."
