Looking up an old friend.

Via stolen car (JD refused to say where he had picked up such talents and Paul/Phantom was rather weak), Paul and JD entered Smalltown's borders.

Paul clutched the door handle sternly.
To anyone besides JD, who knew what was happening, anyone would have thought Paul was holding the door because JD was a bad driver.
Really, Paul was forcing Phantom in, keeping him in.
What if Paul was to lose Phantom? That would be no good..

JD growled as he swerved past another car. "I HATE driving.." he muttered.
He did a quick glance at Paul.
"You ok?"

"Nnn...good enough." He said.
"Just keep going."

JD didn't look convinced, but he didn;t say anymore.
"Yeah..."

Paul coughed.
He looked out the window.
"Smalltown?" He said, quietly, reading a sign.

JD chuckled slightly. "Yeah.. but, it's actually as big as Starford." He glanced at Paul.
"Some say bigger."

"Ironic names. Funny." Paul said meekly.
He wasn't at 100% anymore. He felt about 85...
He wasn't sure how much longer he could last without any soul.

JD glanced at him again, then (when we all thought it wasn;t possible), he floored it.

Paul held on.
Blueness was trickling throughout his skin.
"I feel power.." He said.
His hand was phasing through the door handle.
"I have my phasing back." Paul said, knowing that this power should help a little.

JD nodded, looking almost absent-minded.
"That's good. But maybe you should take your hand out of the door..."

"Good idea." Paul said, taking his hand out of the door-a feeling oh so weird since he wasn't blue...or a spirit, as usual.
He looked down at his tan hand.
"So who are we going to see?"

"That'd be me," said the girl in the backseat.

The car swerved as JD jumped in his seat. "HOLY!-" JD took a moment to gain control of the car again.

The young woman laughed, a short, reedy noise. "Not really." She smiled.
"Ah, Acathay. Still scare-able, as usual." She looked at Paul.
"Hmm... Weird." She leaned in very close to his face.
"He doesn't like me..." She was speaking to JD.

"Who the hell are you!?" Paul said to the girl, looking at JD, pleading with his eyes to start driving to avoid causing a scene.

JD took a long breath, then exhaled.
"Ah..." He pulled into what looked a disused lot.
"This, is who we're supposed to meet." He parked the car, then turned to look at her.
"Mila."

"Mila." Paul said, accidently echoing JD.

The girl nodded, then leaned away from the soulless man.
"Hmm.." She looked at JD.
"Shall we take the conversation.." She was suddenly outside Paul's window.
"Outside?"

Paul nodded quietly, and then fell through the door, reentering tangibility as soon as he hit the ground.
(sorry concert tonight gotta go)

(YEah, yeah, it's all good.)

JD, being unable to fall through a door, exited the traditional way, then went over to where Mila and Paul were.

Mila did a mock bow, saying, "And what brings you boys to my domain? It's very rare that you come here anymore, Acathay." the last sentence had been directed to JD.

JD rolled his eyes, the turned to Paul.
"Mila's bound to this town. She can't pass the city limits."

Mila leaned into JD.
"A spell you so lovingly set up for your little friends..."
She glanced at Paul.
"Why'd you bring him?"

Paul, tired of JD communicating all the lot, and knowing that he wasn't EVER this quiet...
"Can you please quit talking about me like I'm not here? He didn't bring me, I came on my OWN free will. And my soul's...well, gone."

Mila scoffed.
"Well, I can SEE that... Or, you know, sense it..."
She got off of JD then got very close to Paul's face.
"So wotcha do to lose it? Not gotten into any weird mixe-" She suddenly froze, then looked to the sky.

JD looked at her for a moment, them brushed it off as pure-blood nonsense.

"I was in a coma. And an electrical current went over me...and me and The Phantom...we..." He stopped there as Mila looked up.

Mila shook her head, then looked back to Paul.
"You were saying?"

"Well, assuming you know that I'm..." Paul leaned in closer and talked lower. "A mutant-The Phantom, so to speak.."
"I don't know. I was in a coma...and then there was an electrical current..and then.."
"And then I came out."
Paul looked over at the Phantom.
"But I...I didn't feel..."
"Yes, Paul. I do not need you any longer."
The Phantom leaped into the air, and fell onto his-its face.
Paul's feet were 5 inches above the ground.
"Well then." Paul said.
