Dealing with it

JD leaned back against the brick wall that was the side of the Police Station.
He closed his eyes for a minute or so, then spun around to face, and punch, the wall.

After a while of creating a sizable dent in the wall, he sat on the concrete.

(Sorry it took so long to reply my computer was acting up) Ruby and Bell wandered outside, looking for JD.

JD glanced their way, then looked back at the ground.

"JD? Is that you?" Ruby asked, peering his way.

"Yes," he said, exhaling.

Ruby glanced at the wall and saw the dents.
"Did you do that?"

JD laughed harshly.
"Yes. I did." He looked at his hand which had long since healed.
"Yeah.."

"Whoa.." Ruby just looked at the wall.
"And that wall is brick..." Ruby muttered.

JD laughed a bit more, a metal scraping over concrete noise.
"You should see what I can do to steel(!). Ah.."
He glanced up at her.
"Everyone keeps asking if I'm Ok.."

"It's just that people don't punch walls when they are happy," Ruby smiled as she pointed out.

Bell sighed "And, it's because we're concerned about you JD, I know how it feels to lose someone you love, I was three when my Dad died...,"

"Ha, and my dad died..today.." Ruby sucked it up but still felt the knot.

JD's look suddenly hardened, and in a smooth movement, he was standing.
"You're suggesting I roam the streets weeping? That I react the same way the two of you have?"

"No, we're not. We're just saying that... well, your not happy and we wouldn't expect you to be. We're just trying to help. We all loved Dina." Ruby said, hoping JD wouldn't take anything she said badly.

JD's look suddenly relaxed, and he leaned up against the semi-demolished brick wall.
He closed his eyes as he said,
"Can you two keep a secret?"

"Of course," Bell looked at him curiously.

"Yes," Ruby took a breath and wondered what he could possibly tell her and Bell.

He opened his eyes, then said,
"I'm not sad Dina died."

Ruby cocked her head to the side.
"You're not sad?" Ruby asked curiously.

Bell looked at him confusion covering her face.

JD shook his nod.
"No even a little... Just... Nothing. Just a human." He'd said the last word with disdain, then he looked surprised he'd even said it.
"Whoa. Didn't mean that."

"Just a human?" Ruby was very very confused.

"That her-" She stopped not wanting to say the wrong thing.

JD snapped his head up.
"That what? I won't get mad (I think)."

She shook her head "Its...nothing,"

Ruby looked at Bell. She sighed. This was.... just.. unexpected..

JD nodded, he starting look something along the lines of smug.
"Aren't you gonna ask?"

"Ask about what?" Ruby asked, not knowing what in the world he was talking about.

JD 'ptt!'ed, then said, with high look,
Don't you want to know why I'm not upset? I figured it out, clever old me."

"Why aren't you upset? What is it?" Ruby asked.
